I studied Fine Art at Manchester Polytechnic 1981-84, later training as an art restorer before becoming a museum art curator.

I have an enduring fascination for ancient places, where the passage of time has almost erased previous human existence, and given way to new patterns and textures which are possessed of a life of their own. Attempting to translate these perceptions into paint remains a challenging and exciting task.
